I Get It But Still
Alright I accept it, there is a need for antique programs on day-time TV just as there is a need for breast enhancement for any woman wanting to go to Hollywood and make it big. I suppose there are millions of antiques gathering dust in attics all over the country, so there must be a demand for these kind of shows. But I have noticed a worrying trend and it appears to only be getting worse–It is that of the young antique fans appearing on these once older-person dominated shows. Young ones I tell you! They are taking over!
Now, I am not disputing that there aren’t people out there, young people, who want to see this. But seriously, every day? Because I just can’t fathom it. Shouldn’t they be out there living their lives and stuff instead of watching this? I mean, ask yourself: how many people under the age of thirty-five do you see walking around car-boot sales in the hunt for all things antiques?(Not that I go to them of course…a friend told me.)
I get it, I really do. They are trying to make antique programs more appealing to the younger generation, hip and stuff, and you really can’t blame them. Sooner or later new antiques geeks will need to take over if this thriving industry is to continue well in to the future.
But please, there must be a limit! If I had my way I’d put a disclaimer at the beginning: Warning, this show contains young antique fans and their high level of interest and bizarre excitement over anything older than they are may be disturbing.
